4. Enquiries and consultations
Submitting an enquiry through our contact form or by email does not create a lawyer-client relationship. We will review your enquiry and respond within one business day where possible. An initial consultation allows us to assess whether we can assist and discuss scope, timeline, and fees. You are under no obligation to proceed after a consultation.
We reserve the right to decline instructions where a conflict of interest exists, where the matter falls outside our expertise, or where we are otherwise unable to act. If we cannot assist, we will endeavour to suggest alternative resources where appropriate.
5. Engagement of Services
When you engage our Services, the specific terms of the engagement will be set out in a client engagement letter or written agreement ("Engagement Letter"). The Engagement Letter will describe the scope of work, fees, billing arrangements, and any matter-specific terms. In the event of conflict between these Terms and an Engagement Letter, the Engagement Letter prevails for that engagement.
Our Services are advisory in nature. We draft documents, provide guidance, and assist with compliance matters as agreed in the Engagement Letter. We do not represent clients in litigation or court proceedings unless expressly agreed in writing.
6. Fees and payment
Fees for our Services are agreed before work commences and set out in the Engagement Letter. We may charge on a fixed-fee basis for defined deliverables such as will drafting or contract preparation, or on an hourly basis for advisory work where scope is less predictable. Disbursements and third-party costs, if any, will be identified separately.
Payment terms are specified in the Engagement Letter. We may require a deposit before commencing work. Invoices are payable within the period stated on the invoice. We reserve the right to suspend work on overdue accounts after providing reasonable notice.
7. Client responsibilities
To enable us to provide effective Services, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, complete, and timely information relevant to your matter.
- Respond promptly to requests for instructions, documents, or clarification.
- Review draft documents carefully and raise questions or concerns before finalisation.
- Notify us promptly of any change in circumstances that may affect our advice or the documents we have prepared.
- Pay fees and disbursements in accordance with agreed terms.
We rely on the information you provide. We are not responsible for consequences arising from incomplete, inaccurate, or withheld information.
8. Confidentiality
Communications between you and our lawyers are protected by legal professional privilege and subject to our professional obligations of confidentiality. We will not disclose your information to third parties except as described in our Privacy Policy, as required by law, or with your consent.
9. Intellectual property
All content on the Website, including text, graphics, logos, and design elements, is owned by or licensed to Legal Peace of Mind and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud or wilful misconduct.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Legal Peace of Mind, its directors, employees, and contractors from any claims, losses, or expenses arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Website, or your provision of inaccurate information in connection with our Services, except to the extent caused by our negligence or wilful misconduct.
12. Termination
You may terminate an engagement at any time by written notice. We may terminate an engagement where you fail to pay fees, breach these Terms or the Engagement Letter, or where continuing would create a conflict of interest. Upon termination, you remain responsible for fees and disbursements incurred up to the date of termination. We will deliver completed work and return your documents in accordance with professional obligations.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Singapore. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Website shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore, without prejudice to our right to seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any jurisdiction.
